Today, ENSA, the leading voice of plant-based foods industry in Europe, has officially rebranded as Plant-Based Foods Europe. This transformation marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to advocate for sustainable, healthy and innovative plant-based food solutions across Europe.
The plant-based food sector has experienced remarkable growth over the past decades, driven by increasing consumer awareness, environmental concerns, and the growing demand for healthier diets. Founded in 2003 as the European Natural Soyfood Association (ENSA), our organisation initially represented soy food producers. However, as the industry rapidly expanded and diversified, we transitioned in 2012 to the European Plant-Based Foods Association while retaining the ENSA acronym. Now, as plant-based innovation continues to expand across various categories, we are embracing a new identity that better reflects the industry’s dynamic landscape.

“This rebranding marks an exciting new era for the plant-based industry in Europe,” said Luis Uribe, President of Plant-Based Foods Europe. “The sector has grown rapidly due to rising demand for sustainable and healthier foods. Our new identity strengthens our mission to support this growth, collaborate with policymakers, and shape the future of plant-based foods in Europe.”

While our name and look have evolved, our core mission remains unchanged: to position plant-based alternatives as an innovative industry driving sustainability, food security and healthy diets in Europe by raising awareness of these products and their benefits among policymakers and stakeholders.
We look forward to continuing our work as a trusted voice for plant-based foods in Europe.
